Ramiro Santiago Ortiz Jr.

Racine – Ramiro S. Ortiz Jr., 61, passed away at Froedtert Hospital on September 28, 2020. Ramiro was born in Racine to the late Ramiro Sr. and Frances (nee Gonzalez) Ortiz on April 13, 1959. He was raised in Racine and joined the United States Army in 1981. He served during Desert Storm and has traveled around the world, such as: West Germany, Hawaii, Korea, and Alaska. Ramiro served as a Career Counselor, transferring non-participating soldiers to improve strength percentages, and assisting them in designing professional and career development plans. He earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree and ranked Sergeant First Class by the time he retired on October 21, 2014. Ramiro enjoyed attending car shows. On his 60th birthday, he ordered his favorite model, a 1972 Chevelle. It was his pride and joy. Most importantly, he loved his family and would do anything for his children. Ramiro will be dearly missed and loved by his fiancée, Shirley Ortiz; children; Angelita Ortiz, Christina Loch, Aaron Ortiz, and Ramiro Ortiz III; grandchildren: Jena and Gunner Loch; sisters; Jazmin Ortiz, Oralia Dodakian, Criselda Barred, Lucita (Joe) Villarreal; nephews: Antonio Rodriguez and Michael Rodriguez; other relatives and friends. Ramiro was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Hunter Loch. A celebration of Ramiro’s life will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Saturday, October 3, 2020 beginning with a visitation at 5:30 PM until a 7:00 PM Vigil service. A burial with full military honors will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Wounded Warriors Project or to Disabled Veterans of America. A special thank you from the family to the nurses and doctors at both Froedtert Hospital, Transplant ICU and Ascension – All Saints, ICU for their kind and compassionate care of Ramiro, his fiancé and family. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 regulations, 50 people will be permitted in the funeral home at a time. Guests may be required to wait outside until others leave the funeral home. A face covering or mask must be worn upon entering the funeral home along with practicing social distancing guidelines.
