Kent Edward Goar

Racine-Kent Edward Goar, 78, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, September 2, 2020. Kent was born to the late Steven and Fern (nee Bernherd) Goar on May 20, 1942, in Minneapolis, MN. He was united in marriage to Renee Anderson on October 3, 1970, also in Minneapolis. Kent and Renee were happily married for 41 years until Renee passed, also from an illness and at her home in April of 2012. Kent proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps after graduating Southwest High School in Minneapolis in 1960. After getting married, Kent and his wife moved to Racine. For many years, Kent was a congregant of the Christ Church United Methodist in Racine. Kent was a loyal and important employee to the Walgreen Drug Company for over 50 years; spending the majority of his time at the Durand Avenue store in Racine and, the more recent years, at the Caledonia store on Four Mile Road. Kent loved his home and especially his yard. He enjoyed meticulous and passionate hours grooming his yard. That was his most favorite pastime on Westway Avenue where he resided for 45 years. Kent enjoyed traveling with his family and friends. He experienced trips all over the country as well as places such as the Caribbean and Mexico, treasuring each experience. Kent, as most anyone who got to know him, appreciated and loved people. No one more than his customers at Walgreens. Some of his best friends were: Lance, Rick Woodside, Kevin, Nadia, Renee Corveleyn, Casey, Lisa, Shaina, Ted, Terry, Sarah, many other friends. Above all else, Kent loved his children and grandchildren. Left to cherish Kent’s memory are his children: Brad (Sarah Webb) Goar of Racine and Nichole (Martin) Tauger of Eau Claire; beloved grandchildren: Brandy Rabalais-Prahl of Poland, Charlie Stanton of Pleasant Prairie, Morgan and Brady Tauger of Eau Claire; his special pup, Toley; along with many other relatives and friends. Kent is preceded in death by his wife, Renee; and his twin brother, Keith Goar. A Celebration of Kent’s Life will be held on a later date. Kent’s final resting place will be with Renee at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis. Memorials may be directed to the family.
