Janet Marie Bell

Racine - Janet Marie Bell, 71, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on September 20, 1953, to the late GradyFrank and Bessie Bell (nee Smith). Janet dedicated 16 years of her life as the manager of medical records at Wheaton Franciscan, where she made a lasting impact before retiring at the age of 62. Her dedication to her work was matched only by her devotion to her family and faith. Strong in her Buddhist beliefs, she lived a life grounded in compassion, mindfulness, and gratitude. A lover of the simple joys in life, Janet enjoyed reading, cooking, music, and especially traveling with her family. These moments of connection and exploration were a true reflection of her kind and adventurous spirit. Janet will be deeply missed by her daughter, Adrena; her siblings: Sabir, Najmah, John, Gloria, Vanessa, and Olivia; her grandchildren: Aubrey (Sharon) and Danica; her great-grandchildren: Jayden, Noah, Alexsa, and Julian; her niece, Ramona Keys; her beloved boyfriend, Kevin Hughes; and her best friend, Linda Wilson. She will also be missed by many extended family members, friends, and loved ones. Janet was preceded in death by two of her siblings, Tyler and Anna. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed. A celebration of Janet’s life will be held at Wilson Funeral Home on Saturday, January 11, 2024, with visitation beginning at 11 AM until services at 12 PM. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Aurora at Home Hospice for the compassionate care they showed Janet. My Aunt Janet Bell exemplified the essence of a beautiful woman, with a heart of gold & a loving spirit! My Aunt Janet’s name means God is gracious; God’s gracious gift. Marie is her middle name. In Japanese it means “truth, blessing”; her last name Bell is a tool that gives sound. Janet was truly worthy of her name. Janet heard the ringing of the Bell which awakened her Buddha nature. The ringing of the bell summoned and gathered around Janet’s faith. Janet embraced that faith & practice was the basic requirement for entering the way of the Buddha. Chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo…strengthened her faith in her unlimited potential. The Japanese word for “Bell” is “Kane,” may her bell continue to ring & vibrate throughout the universe propagating world peace & expedite a holistic approach in humanity by turning poison into medicine. My love for you is infinite & transcends all personal space & time.
