Donald Clifford Lashley

Donald Clifford Lashley, age 89, passed away on February 20, 2018 at Ascension All Saints Hospital with his family by his side. On September 19, 1928, Donald was born to Clarence and Kate (nee Jackson) Lashley in Arcadia, Missouri. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. On October 10, 1953, Donald was united in marriage to Mildred Lunow in Racine, Wisconsin. For over 50 years, Donald was the owner and operator of Lashley Tree Service. Donald was baptized Christian. He loved the outdoors, especially being in the woods, and was an avid fisherman, deer hunter, and mushroom forager. He also enjoyed playing guitar and woodcarving. Donald liked people, and loved to tell jokes and stories. Above all, Donald loved his family and was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Left to cherish Donald’s memory are his wife of 64 years, Mildred Lashley; four sons: Rodney (Debra) of Marco Island, FL, Dale (Amy) of Hemet, CA, Allen (Brenda) of Racine, and Phillip (Tiffany) of Mt. Pleasant; daughter-in-law, Kathy, of Racine; grandchildren: Clinton (Nikki), Meghan (Justin), Craig (Jaime), Christopher (Deana), Gabriel, Josiah, Sydney (Derrick), and Edward; numerous great grandchildren; five brothers: John of King, WI, Robert of St. Louis, MO, David of Beldenville, WI, Kenneth of Beldenville, WI, Gerald (Chris) of Shiocton, WI; sister, Dorothy “Carol” (Charles) Hinds of Burlington; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Donald was preceded in death by his son, Ray; his parents, Clarence and Kate; and his siblings: Helen, Lucille, Norman, and Joann. A celebration of Donald’s life will take place on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home (1212 Lathrop Avenue). A time of visitation with the family will take place on Saturday, February 24 from 12:00 noon until the time of the service. Donald will be laid to rest at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. with full military honors. The family wishes to thank All Saints Ascension Hospital, Wheaton Franciscan Hospice, and Dr. Erin Siegel for their compassionate care of Donald. An additional thank you is extended to the greater Racine community for their use and support of Lashley Tree Service over the past 50 years. Donald felt that it was a pleasure to have served the community. The family has chosen Flowers by Walter as their florist.
