Donald J. Garant RACINE—Donald J. Garant, 77, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, February 13, 2015. Donald was born on September 6, 1937 in Racine to the late John and Gyneth (nee: Case) Garant. He was united in marriage to Elke Beckmann on September 18, 1965 in Racine. Donald worked for more than 40 years, most recently in gage repair at Chrysler, until his retirement in 2003. Donald was a great cook and was the grill master of the family. He enjoyed reading and travelling in his free time. He enjoyed his dogs, especially “Scotties”. Donald was very handy around the house, fixing things that were broken and even completing the second level of his home. Donald will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Elke; his daughters, Eileen (Thomas) Kennedy, and Tina (Jim) Lee; his granddaughter, Olivia Lee; and one sister. Donald also leaves behind family in Germany, and other local relatives and friends. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gyneth Garant; and his grandson, Nathan Lee. Funeral services for Donald will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at 11:30am at Wilson Funeral Home with Pastor Leland Longrie officiating. Family and friends may meet with the family from 10:30am until the time of service at 11:30am. Memorials in Donald’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army or the Red Cross.
