Curtis Krogh

Racine – Curtis H. Krogh, 96, passed away at Boland Hall - Veterans Home in Union Grove on September 3, 2013. Curtis was born in Racine to the late Christian and Thyra (nee: Lenestrand) Krogh on January 16, 1917. He was a lifelong resident of Racine and graduated from Washington Park High School, Class of 1935. In Chicago, IL, he was united in marriage to Agnes N. Jacobsen on October 22, 1941. Mr. Krogh served as a pilot in the United States Army Air Corp. during World War II in the Pacific Theater flying troops and cargo, as well as wounded soldiers on litters. After the war, he was employed by the J.I. Case Company for over 43 years in the Accounting Department in the main office. Curtis was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church where he was active in choir and Sunday school. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 10388 and he also was active in the Habitat for Humanity program. Over his life, Curtis had developed lifelong friends and after his retirement from J.I. Case Company in December of 1978; he spent many years organizing reunions and writing newsletters for his fellow veteran soldiers and friends. He enjoyed singing, reading, fishing and wood working, but most of all, he enjoyed being with his family. Curtis leaves a legacy of memories to his loving wife of 71 years, Agnes; five children, Mark (Penny) Krogh, Jonathan (Deborah) Krogh, Claudia (Ronald) Kraus, Rhonda (Mark) Nelson and Jennifer Maresh; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sister, Pearl Poulsen; sister-in-law, Jenny Jensen; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Naomi Krogh, Opal Cota, Verna Hansen and Elizabeth Barner; and his brothers, Roman, Jack and Sherman. Funeral services in honor of Mr. Krogh will be held at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 3319 Washington Avenue on September 6, 2013 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jane Fryda officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of service. . Private inurnment will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
