Margrethe Sorensen SHEBOYGAN FALLS – Margrethe Sorensen, age 89, passed away at Woodland Manor on Sunday, December 7, 2014. Margrethe was born in Hadsund, Denmark to the late Nels and Dorothea (Eijlersen) Hansen on March 12, 1925. She was united in marriage to Walther F. Sorensen on April 8, 1950 in Iceland. Margrethe was a member of Presbyterian Church of the Covenant for many years. A mother to all, Margrethe loved children. She was a foster parent to over two- hundred children, and a nanny to many more. She was a strong, independent woman, who taught herself English after having emigrated from Denmark. She also was a member of Dania. Taking pride in her knitting and crocheting, she was constantly making hats and mittens for all children. She never drove day nor night, choosing rather to walk everywhere. Margrethe will be dearly missed by her daughter: Dorothy (Joseph) Wurster; son: Nels (Jean) Sorensen; four grandchildren: Jonathan, Kirstin, Emily and Kyle; brother: Sven (Nora) Hansen of Denmark; and nieces and nephews in Denmark too numerous to name. She is preceded in death by her husband: Walther F. Sorensen; two adopted infants: Mary and Kathleen; two sisters: Maria and Anna; and one brother: Jens. A funeral service will be held at Wilson Funeral home on Friday, December 12, 2014 at 1:00 PM. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 12:00 PM until the time of the service. Interment will follow the service at Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Woodland Manor, located at 851 Fond du Lac Drive, Sheboygan Falls, WI, 53085.
